Philippe – February, 2018

February 20th, 2018

I make an effort to grab my camera as much as possible when I spend time with my son. I know that it can be tough to really capture them and how easy it is to grab your phone and snap a picture, but I enjoy just snapping a few of him and creating a little post like this because it gives me something to look back on. I talk to a lot of parents, and I mean a lot and most of them, if not all them don’t EVER print phone photos.

Now if you print all your phone photo’s then I am so sorry – but in reality – I don’t print them – why? They are never going to print as nice and I want to enjoy these photos for years to come. I make an effort to print a photo, even a 5×7 and stick it in a frame and put it on a shelf, gift it to a grand parent, or put them in my son’s room.

Lately, I found that I wanted to have them be the first thing I saw in the morning so I have added them to my bedside table. Guess who looks at them everyday as well – my husband – and my son when he comes in for morning snuggles before daycare. Most days he steals them and puts them in his room and it’s so adorable.

Kind of crazy to think this time last year we were packing like maniacs to get ready to move into my father in law’s place for a week before we moved into our dream home. We decided to hire movers – this was the best decision ever! Moving in with family is never easy, especially with toddlers. Our son came down with whooping cough while we were staying with family just to make things extra tough for us. This transition was a big one for all of us, but we are so happy with the results.

When we first moved into our home we had water issues almost immediately. We have had water problems in every house that we have been in. I am not sure what it is, but for whatever reason this alway’s seems to break. I found moving to be stressful enough, but we also needed to re-paint the entire house to match with our style and decor on top of the water issues. We also needed to get my business set up quickly as I had clients due with babies and needed to get them into the studio! It felt like pure chaos.

We always seem to thrive in chaos and we figured it out, but sometimes it can be tough on us and we always need to take time to sit back and figure out our priorities. We always want to put our family first above all else, and that means that sometimes we make sacrifices and we don’t always get to do all the things we would love to be doing such as travel or fancy dinners out. We know what our goals are as a family and we value spending quality time together at home, and so we work hard to make our home a place where we want to spend lots of time together.

I encourage you to take the time to capture your little ones, even if it’s just once a year – and PRINT! I promise you won’t regret having photos of your family!
