Starting a Videography Career wasn’t something that I would ever think that I could add to my own title, but it’s one I am truly proud of. I was able to connect with Corinne who is an extremely talented filmmaker and she inspired me to push myself even further. Corinne is the Creative Director for Corinne McDonald Films, and Podcaster for The VIP Collective. She’s extremely sought after in the Toronto area for wedding films.
As soon as I virtually found her I became obsessed because she is extremely talented and works with some of the best in the Toronto, Ontario Wedding industry. Her work literally speaks for itself and leaves clients and other vendors speechless.
When I first reached out to her I wasn’t even sure if she would get back in touch with me, but of course she did and I was over the moon. Corinne is very talented and has also started her own Podcast and Youtube series as an expert in the wedding industry called The VIP Collective.
Her story is one where she is able to take risks such as moving across the country in her first videography role on a whim and then not being able to use any of that content to grow her own business. Talk about a tough start, but one that isn’t too far off for most of us.
Cost of Starting a Videography Business
When you think of starting a videography business or a career in it one thing that most people don’t realize is the cost associated with all the equipment and training. The hours behind the editing are what you are surely paying for as much as the skill in using your camera. One thing that Corinne and I discussed is that you can’t be taught is to know all the anticipated moments. This comes with many weddings and of course being able to go back and edit afterwards is key.
What does it cost to Shoot a Wedding Video
Calculating all the years of experience and the gear you are looking at opening your business needing to spend easily 25k or more just to have the proper computer, camera’s, back up cameras, lenses, and audio gear. Don’t forget about insurance and cost of storage for all the files you will create and hiring second shooters. We talk about all of this in our episode so make sure to dive in and get all the details.
