Second Shooters at Weddings: Why We Always Use Them. Like many things, just because we can doesn’t mean we should. We can shoot a full wedding without a second shooter, but there are so many great benefits to having a second shooter. Here are a few reasons why we always have second shooters at our weddings.
- You get an extra viewpoint. Two shooters means more angles, more shots, and more variety. It helps capture more candid shots and the wonderful, in-between moments that aren’t planned. There are many moments that your couple will want to see their loved ones reaction. Like the vows and walking down the aisle. Having a second shooter will help you get those shots.

2. We can’t physically be in more than once place at once. Two shooters help solve some logistical issues like when a couple are getting ready in different locations or rooms, or allows us to capture special moments with guests during cocktail hour while the wedding party and family are taking photos.

3. More hands. As the saying goes, many hands make light work…or something like that. In our case, more hands definitely assists in optimizing the use of your time on the wedding day. A second shooter can really help speed up group photos and cover more ground than a single shooter. The day goes by so fast, so any time we can save you is always a plus.

4. It’s an added insurance policy. Let’s face it, no one wants to think about worse case scenarios, and at Grey Loft Studio, we have a number of ways we work to insure a smooth wedding day, BUT sometimes unexpected things happen (cue: global pandemic). Having a second shooter is an added way we buffer against the unexpected to make sure you get hitched without a hitch!
