Lilac Lane Engagement Session at the Dominion Arboretum with the lovely Isabelle & Aleks. As soon as lockdown lifted the plan was set! We wasted no time in getting our cameras dusted off and ready for some time in the sunshine. The best part about this was it meant that we we’re able to spend some time with our favourite people, our clients! Being wedding photographer and videographers in Ottawa is an absolute privilege. Capturing peoples love stories is quite simply one of the best jobs in the world. Having this taken away from us is extremely difficult, but our clients made all the difference.

Bringing props isn’t necessary, but it’s totally welcome. These two have such a beautiful friendship and relationship, it was so happy witnessing it. The love they have for one another is so heartwarming. Laughing was definitely a big part of this session. Isabelle was feeding Alek’s charcuterie meat, a first for me!
Lilac Photos during Engagement Session
If you are planning to do Lilac photos, you’ll need to plan around early to late spring. With everything warming up early this year, spring was also early! Lovely to see how beautiful these blooms got, hence why we called it Lilac Lane. *perhaps I have been watching Firefly Lane and got creative! We popped some champagne, which you know is my fave. As always, our lovely clients brought some glasses for Luc and I to share. It’s always so appreciative to join in!

Going to the Arboretum during spring time has to be my favourite. This year did not disappoint! Peonies, Lilacs, and of course Cherry Blossoms! Sadly we missed all the trees in bloom because of the lockdown this year, but we found 1 lone tree with some blooms and we took advantage! Part of being a Wedding Photographer is scouting for locations. This can happen in advance but also can happen on the spot. Knowing where to look can save time, especially on a wedding day!

When clients trust you, magic happens. We don’t always need to give a lot of guidance but when we do it’s always worth it! A big thing about working with the Grey Loft Studio team is trust. The ability to trust that we will be there to help you and we always want to get the best shots. Seeing what I see and sometimes what a client sees can be very different. Sometimes a very simple space can make for epic photos, however patches of tulips and sunsets are my go to!
Engagement Session fun in Ottawa
Having an engagement session is one of the many things that we love doing. Meeting clients for the first time over zoom is great for many reasons. However, one of the best ways to connect we find is in person. Having this time to get to know one another is important. This way you’ll feel confident on the day of and we will be able to capture the day exactly as you envision.
