Mill Street Brewery Wedding with beautiful surprise cherry blossoms just outside the venue for the lovely Kailyn and Aaron’s perfect sunny day! Meeting these two felt like meeting our new besties from the beginning. We knew back in 2022 that these two we’re nothing short of amazing and wow did they deliver. The vibes we’re so high and good all day, they trusted everything, I mean everything we asked them to do. At one point during the ceremony I asked Luc to confirm just how smooth the day had gone so far because I was in awe.
Mill Street Brew Pub for those who aren’t familiar, Mill Street Pub is a local Ottawa brewery. It’s one of my personal faves and has an amazing selection of beers on tap. They also have a restaurant and patio for patrons to enjoy a nice meal while overlooking the Ottawa River. The brewery is also host to a beautiful event space that caters to weddings, which is where Kailyn and Aaron decided to host their wedding reception after the “I do’s”. Studio Brewing at it’s finest I’d say!
Mill Street Brewery Wedding – our first time capturing at this spot
It’s hard to believe we’ve never captured a wedding at this venue before now. We have been lucky as we’ve shot many weddings around our beautiful city of Ottawa. However, I am not sure I was fully prepared for a Mill Street Brewery Wedding that had all these amazing spots for photos. Such a hidden gem. The cherry blossoms, just wow. I felt like a kid in a candy store especially once the sun started to set and we got the most epic shots. Mill St Brewery is definitely a place we’re excited to go back to!
Mill Street took on the vibrant Ottawa craft beer scene in 2002, choosing a 140 year old historic gristmill to bring a brewpub to the capital. Get both a historic and craft beer experience with breathtaking seats overlooking the Rivière des Outaouais, an unbeatable patio and beers brewed on site, exclusive to Ottawa Brewpub visitors. About Mill Street Brewery: With an earth-friendly philosophy in mind, Original Organic Lager was the first beer we ever made, and the first ever organic beer brewed in Canada. Soon after we impressed curious craft drinkers with Tankhouse Ale, a uniquely flavour-forward brew for its time.
In 2006, we exceeded the capacity of our modest brewhouse and made the decision to expand the brewery, converting the original brewery space into a brewpub. 2012 saw us take on Ottawa’s vibrant craft beer scene, opening a second brewpub in a historic old gristmill on the banks of the Ottawa River. We certainly never lost our dedication to our craft and passion for pushing the envelope. Our ever-expanding portfolio now includes over 60 unique beers earning us well over 100 awards, including 3-time Canadian Brewery of the Year. That’s our story up till now. Who knows where our “Great Beer” adventure will take us next?
Wedding Day Preparations on a Rooftop Patio before heading to Mill Street Brewery Wedding
Now, to be fair Kailyn and Aaron did mention that they had this epic space for getting ready. Again however, I wasn’t nearly prepared for just how amazing it was. Getting ready spots can either be amazing, or fall flat. We do what we can with whatever comes our way, but this space definitely won our hearts over. The views of parliament hill we’re the icing on the cake I didn’t even want but luckily got.
The first look was amazing. I love seeing the beautiful reactions and the private vows definitely got Aaron a little choked up but it was honestly just perfect. The flow of a wedding day is so powerful and wonderful to capture.
Getting ready in an Apartment Lobby for a Wedding Day – Yes!
If we get to a prep and there is a large group of people, a lobby is always a good idea. It’s usually filled with natural light, aesthetically pleasing fixtures, and room to capture some basic parts of the day. When I proposed this idea to Aaron of course he was down. Like how amazing is this? I’m obsessed.
Ceremony at St. Joseph’s Church downtown Ottawa
This was our first time capturing a ceremony in this church and again, impressed. So much room to move around and really had such a great amount of space for everything. I loved the architecture and just how neutral most things we’re. The decor they had with the orange and the red linens could go, but overall it didn’t take anything away from the ceremony. The priest was kind and easy to work with which was a huge bonus for us!

Going to a new spot is really exciting as a wedding photographer and wedding videographer. Our creativeness really shines through whenever we get to a new space. The brewery had so many amazing spots just a short walk away. I was really impressed with the ruins, the blossoms, the monument area, and definitely the bridge became a favourite of mine really quick.
I could go on and on about everything but this day was nothing short of spectacular for all the reasons listed above. The vibes for this distillery district wedding for Kailyn and Aaron, it was such an honour to capture your day and we feel so lucky you chose us. We had the absolute best time and we know you did too! We have it recorded that we’re now besties!
