Saturday, October 17th brought golden trees, crisp air and a very happy crowd out to Carleton Place. We spent the day with Kerri and Grant at Stonefields Estate, and it had everything we love in a fall wedding: a cozy log building with a stone fireplace, a rust-and-cream colour palette, a bridal suite with a clawfoot tub, and a couple who clearly make each other laugh. Here’s a look at their Stonefields Estate fall wedding.
The venue: Stonefields Estate

Stonefields Estate sits just outside Carleton Place, roughly 40 minutes from downtown Ottawa, which makes it an easy country escape for city couples. What we love for photos is how many different looks you get in one property. There’s warm log-cabin wood and a big stone fireplace indoors. Outside there are mature trees, benches, winding paths and, in October, a lot of glowing leaves. Whether you want cozy, rustic or bright and airy, this venue gives you options. If you’re searching for Carleton Place wedding venues, put Stonefields on the shortlist. Planning your own day here? The details at a Stonefields Estate fall wedding: truck, rings and invitation

We always start the day with the details, and Kerri and Grant gave us a great flat lay to work with. Their invitation features a watercolour illustration of a couple leaning on the tailgate of a pickup truck, which set the tone for a day that felt warm, personal and a little country. Their rings sat on top of it like they belonged there. There was a pearl bracelet, earrings, perfume, a tiny coin tucked into the corner and a ring box that matched the earthy palette. Over in the groom’s suite, the cream suit jackets hung in a row against the mirrors, and one of the guys showed off a very fun pair of blue socks. We love that kind of personality.
Getting ready for a Stonefields Estate fall wedding

The bridal suite is a dream. White walls, a sparkly chandelier, a big arched mirror, a sliding barn door and a cozy window seat, plus that clawfoot tub, which, yes, Kerri did pose in (in her dress, with champagne, because why not). Her bridesmaids started the day in matching robes before switching into rich rust-coloured dresses, and the big reveal of Kerri in her gown was a highlight. That’s what we love about a morning like this: a mix of laughing, sipping something bubbly and quiet moments in between.

The groom’s suite has rustic charm for days: exposed beams, a mirrored wall, leather chairs and a whole lot of cream suits with rust-red ties. The guys had a blast. A couple of drinks outside the log building, some dad-joke-level chaos, and then, of course, someone got lifted clean off the ground. This crew knew how to have fun.
A letter, a first look with dad and a stone fireplace

One of our favourite little details of the day: a handwritten envelope that read “To Kerri on our wedding day.” Kerri held it in her lap, and it’s exactly the kind of quiet moment we hope to catch. After that, she stepped into the main room at Stonefields for a first look with her dad in front of that gorgeous stone fireplace, with its garland of eucalyptus and white florals. It’s a seriously pretty spot for family photos.
The first look under the trees

Then came the moment everyone was waiting for. Kerri’s gown trailed behind her as she walked up the path, toward Grant, who stood waiting under a canopy of yellowing trees. The lace on her dress, the soft October sun and Grant’s smile were all doing a lot of work. There’s nothing quite like those first few seconds together, and we love when a couple takes their time with it.
Bridal party portraits and Wally at a Stonefields Estate fall wedding

After the first look, we grabbed the bridal party. The rust dresses looked amazing against the green lawn and the blue barn. First came the classic lineup. Then came the cheering, which gave us one of our favourite photos of the day.
But the real star was Wally. Kerri and Grant’s dog joined the portraits like a pro. So we parked him on the stone hearth, and then we added him to the couple’s photos too. He even got his own drink at the bar, but more on that later.
Family photos by the fireplace

The log room with its stone fireplace works so well for family photos. The light is soft, and the fireplace garland adds a pretty touch. Because everyone was in rich fall colours, the group shots look warm and full of life. Plus, the littlest family members added plenty of sweetness.
The Stonefields Estate fall wedding ceremony in the white chapel

The ceremony took place in Stonefields’ white chapel, and it is just as pretty inside as out. Think white wood walls, crystal chandeliers and rows of white chairs. Before the guests arrived, we photographed the details. Kerri held a handkerchief from her mom. It read, “To my daughter on her wedding day. The walk down the aisle marks the beginning of a new life. But wherever you go, my heart goes with you. Love always, Mom.” That one hit us right in the heart.

Grant walked down the aisle with his parents while the guests clapped. Meanwhile, the smallest guest waited in a little white wagon with a teddy bear. Then our flower girl made her entrance. She wore a cream coat, carried a basket of petals and gave our camera a very good look.

Then the doors opened. Kerri walked down the aisle with her dad, and Grant’s face said everything. His groomsmen grinned beside him. Because the chapel is so bright, every expression showed. The guests clapped as she passed, so the whole room felt warm.

After they said their vows, they shared their first kiss as a married couple. Then they walked back up the aisle to cheers and headed out into the sunshine.
Family and friends outside the chapel

Right outside the chapel, we gathered family and friends. The white building with its arched doors makes a lovely backdrop. Plus, the rust, teal and burgundy outfits popped against it. Because the sun was low, we kept things quick and easy so everyone could get to the party.
Golden hour portraits at a Stonefields Estate fall wedding

Once the family photos wrapped, we stole Kerri and Grant away for golden hour. The light was glowing, so we walked the paths, the split-rail fence and the lawn near the barn. First came the sunlit walks with her veil flying. Then we added a few cheek-to-cheek moments under the veil, plus a black and white favourite. Finally, we ended up in front of the big barn for a kiss. It’s the kind of light we dream about. So if you love soft, glowing light, a Stonefields Estate fall wedding is a great choice.
The Stonefields Estate fall wedding reception in the barn

The reception took place in the Stonefields barn, and the setting was beautiful. Sheer drapes hung from the beams, long tables stretched down the room and chandeliers glowed overhead. The naked cake with baby’s breath matched the fireplace florals from earlier. So the whole room felt warm and welcoming.
The signature drinks sign was our favourite detail. It read, “Cheers to love, laughter & happily ever after,” and it listed three drinks. Hers was a Cape Codder. His was a spiced rum and Coke. Wally’s was a Strawberry Barkarita on the Rocks, with a splash of love. We love a couple who put their dog on the menu.

The bridesmaids kicked things off with a bubble-filled entrance, so the energy started high. Then Kerri and Grant walked in with their arms in the air. Speeches followed, and we caught plenty of laughing faces at the head table. Glasses went up, and Kerri and Grant took the mic too. After that, they cut the cake together.
A second look and a very busy dance floor

As the sun went down, Kerri changed into a short white dress for the dance floor. Before the party kicked off, we snuck outside for a quiet kiss against the barn door. Then we went back in for the best part.
Glow sticks came out, Grant lifted Kerri off the ground, and the floor filled up fast. One guest rocked a red tartan kilt, so we had to get a photo. Plus, someone made face cutouts of Wally and the couple on sticks. Of course, the whole crowd loved them. Meanwhile, the cutouts kept everyone laughing. We ended the night with a floor full of happy people.
Congratulations, Kerri & Grant
