Post-Wedding Tips: 5 Things You Need to Do After Your Wedding is Over. You did it! You survived the planning, budgeting, and crafting that comes with wedding planning and hopefully you enjoyed your big day!
Now what?
The aftermath of a wedding usually leaves you surrounded with great memories, cards, gifts, various keepsakes, and lots of beautiful photos of the wedding date. So what do you need to know about post-wedding to-dos?
Organize your Cards, Gifts and Keepsakes.
Nothing wrong with taking an inventory of your gifts, cards, and other mementos from your day. Decide what you want to keep, donate, return, or store somewhere safe. You might want to consider a pretty box to organize your cards (or maybe you don’t care and would rather throw them out after you’ve read them)- either way, you’ll want to figure out what to do with all this new stuff you end up with after a wedding.
Clean/Preserve your Wedding Gown.
Whether you are planning to keep your dress or resell it, it’s a good idea to get it professionally cleaned as soon as possible. Lots of wedding dress boutiques also offer preservation options for your gown, so give them a call if you’re unsure.
Send Out Thank you Notes and Vendor Reviews
Your family and friends were part of your special day (and they probably got you some great gifts to boot), so make sure you take the time to thank them! We suggest planning from this task when you’re wedding planning, so you don’t put it off too long. Wedding vendors also work hard to help make your day special, so consider expressing your gratitude by taking the time to leave them positive reviews. Plus, it helps future couples plan their weddings…and that’s just good karma! The Knot explains when the perfect time to send out your Thank-You cards is!
Order Your Wedding Album/Prints.
Besides sharing your digital images on your social media accounts, there’s something special about having printed copies of your favourite photos from your magical day. You’ll definitely want to print a few to frame and many love having a tangible wedding album to look at for years to come. Talk to your photographer/videographer about how they can help you with this! This is also a great opportunity to share your photographer to you friends and family!
Make sure you receive your Marriage Certificate.
The certificate is the legal record of your marriage and lists the marriage date, place, and your names. Expect to receive this a few weeks after your officiant has registered your marriage with the province. You’ll need this if you opt to change your last name…and all kinds of other legal and tax reasons. Welcome to the knitty gritty of marriage and congratulations!
