Rainy engagement session Downtown – Photo Locations are most definitely not common. Especially since we like to schedule two dates in case of rain. However, with it being a busy season for Kaitlin & Ethan and for our studio. (plus it was sunny when she went to get her makeup done). They decided to go ahead with the session anyway. We spent most of the time hanging around the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, outside, as they don’t allow “non-guests” to use the inside space. Incase you also get stuck in the rain like this on your wedding day!

Find some shelter when you can – Ottawa Photo Locations when it Rains
Our original plan was to go to the Arboretum because it’s so beautiful this time of year. However, when Kaitlin reached out about other options we had to think a little outside the box. The first spot I thought of that would be ideal and free is inside the NAC (please confirm with staff before making any plans). The only issue was when I arrived and met Kaitlin and Ethan, they felt a bit overwhelmed with how public it was, as the place was really busy with the rain.

Rainy Engagement Session Downtown – Photo Locations
- One of the first places we thought of was the Museum of Nature, they charge $100 during museum hours only. It has so many breathtaking architectural spots with a lot of natural light, but for an engagement session, $100 was a little steep for 2 people for 45 mins. However, if you were getting married and needed a great spot for photos, this would be one we would highly recommend.
- Canadian War Museum – $50 for use of the lobby for photos with stunning architecture you may also want to grab your umbrella and brave the rain for this one too!
- National Art Gallery – $350 for use for couples on their wedding day, which if you think about it isn’t such a bad idea, especially if rain is scheduled to happen all day and you really want nice photos with family, bridal party, and couples portraits! It’s so close to so many beautiful outdoor locations such as Major’s Hill Park, The Locks, outside Fairmont Chateau Laurier, Parliament Hill, & Confederation Tunnel
- Last but not least, Rockliffe Park and Rockeries – it is a first come first serve option, but you won’t find this type of covered outdoor feel anywhere else. You can rent it for $400, or risk that people may be in your shots as well.
Although this information may be correct now, things may change, so always make sure that you check with all the facilities before making any sudden appearances. These are our top recommendations for Rainy Engagement Session Downtown – Photo Locations.
