To say that we were excited for our first spring engagement with Jessica and Matt would be an understatement. We enjoyed getting to prepare for the session, charge our batteries, clear out old memory cards. Doing all the things we missed during the pandemic right? Who knew we would ever miss doing those things but we did.
It’s pretty common for us to hear from our couples that they are kind of awkward in front of camera. Understandably, no one really spends that much time in front of a camera unless it’s your professional job to do so! The best part about people feeling awkward is the moment when they just stop feeling weird and embrace the moments. You can almost tell in the photos when it happens and we get to see this all the time.
Spring Flowers for Engagement Sessions, yes!
Sadly we missed the Cherry Blossoms this year and we won’t point out who is to blame. Such a nice surprise to see some fresh wildflowers along the path during this spring engagement session for Jessica and Matt. We may have had them awkwardly crouch so we could get the look like they were sitting in a field of them. It was more difficult than we imagined not being able to get close to people as we didn’t realize how much we do in fact touch people.
What was helpful was finally pulling up images on our phone and showing them what we wanted them to do as it became a little hard to describe. The things you don’t think of but at least we were safe!

Twirling is a secret that I learned long ago to bring into the session because it gets the laughs and the fun flowing. Of course it’s also great practice as who does this on the regular? How cute is it though!
