Elegant Black Tie Wedding Shaw Centre with Hannah and Braden. The beautiful outdoor ceremony at 50 Sussex by the water downtown is one for the books. Even though they called for rain, that didn’t stop these two from following through on the dream. I’m sure it caused a lot of stress, however it definitely was worth it. The day started at the Westin Hotel and the vibes were so fun. Just the way we like them. The girls had matching sweat suits and the guys were ready to pull out all the stops with fun poses. Our team can’t stop saying how much fun they had at prep.
Downtown Ottawa Wedding Photo Locations
It’s no secret that my heart is a downtown girl when it comes to taking photos. The variety that we can get is just so amazing. The many different spots with beautiful architecture and lots of options with large trees and gardens, what’s not to love. Now they were calling for rain pretty much most of the day. Not a lot, but enough to scare us. We’ve been caught downtown in the rain before and it’s not fun! Sharon from Avant Garde-Designs had limos ready to come at any point and I dragged around an umbrella just incase.
Hannah however was ready for anything and took the whole day with so much grace. We only had to bring the umbrella out a few times for a bit of tiny drops, so to me that’s a win. The team had so much fun capturing all the guys downtown. The girls were equally ready to get all the fun captured.
First looks at Majors Hill just hit Differently
Seeing Braden’s reaction to seeing his beauty is my fave. It truly reminds me of Julia and Nick’s first look at Major’s hill from fall 2022. Something so special about this spot. It’s such a magical place that we have in Ottawa to do photos with the Chateau Laurier in the background. The castle vibes are definitely a fan favourite for our couples. If you plan to visit Ottawa, this is a must photo to get if you can! The sunsets around this area are spectacular as well. See below for a glimpse of the magic we got, since it was a cloudy day we only got a tiny sliver of sunset.
Outdoor Ceremony by the Water Downtown Ottawa at 50 Sussex
If you’re looking to get married outside by the water downtown Ottawa this is definitely a great option. Even though Ottawa is surrounded by water we don’t see many options for this. However, keep in mind that outdoor ceremonies come with lots of planning in case of bad weather. Also note that it can be more windy by the water which means that things need to be tied down in some instances. It’s so wonderful that the rain held off however for Hannah and Braden’s Elegant Black Tie Wedding Shaw Centre.

Walking into this reception space was spectacular. Hannah & Braden gave a carte blanche to Sharon to run free with the design. The black and white theme is timeless in my opinion. The design and touches were all cohesively put together and meticulously placed right down to the menu and escort cards. The custom olive oil bottles were such a nice touch too! It was quite fun to have an escalator take everyone up to the reception space, it felt very red carpet.

During Hannah’s parent speech the sun started to come out so we immediately dashed outside to grab some photos. The glow of the sun is truly the photos and videos we get so excited to capture. Hannah and Braden were absolute troupers the entire day. I’m sure it felt like a lot but I am so thrilled they decided to push through it. These alone moments are always a favourite one to look back on.
