Engagement Photography at the Beach has to be one of my top locations in Ottawa for an engagement session. As an Ottawa Wedding Photographer, we include engagement sessions in our 8 hours and 10-hour packages. This is because we pride ourselves on truly getting to know our clients and what a better way to do that than hanging out and capturing it all. Practicing for the big day and also key in building a relationship of trust, plus we really love what we do!
Petrie Island Sunset Engagement Photography
We headed out to Petrie Island in the east end of Ottawa and we had the most perfect sunset. Katherine and Nabil brought a blanket, champagne, and a lot of laughter for the session. We may not have gotten the spraying we wished for, but we got everything else.
Getting to know your clients
Another key part of our process is getting to know our clients, even before we meet them. To do this we have a questionnaire so we can really get a feel for each couple before we meet. Crucial for us to be able to truly get to know each other this way, so we all feel comfortable about the whole process. Just as important for us to love them as much as they love us. Love may be a strong word, but we really do learn to love the relationship they have for one another. Documenting this special day is such a privilege that we respect and take so seriously.
Tell us about the “spark”
“I just knew the first time I met Nabil that he was different than all the other guys. The first time we both felt the spark was the second time we saw each other. It was at Saunders Farm’s Fright Fest with our friends. We held hands in the haunted houses when I was scared, I told him he was funny and he told me I was beautiful. Throughout the night, the conversation was effortless and the laughs were endless. At the end of the night, we went on the Ferris wheel where we were “alone” for the first time. That’s where the sparks flew and I knew Nabil would be a very special person in my life!”
When and How did you get Engaged?
“Nabil proposed to me after a 4-day hike to the Machu Picchu in beautiful Peru! On the last day of our hike, we woke up at around 4 am to hike to a place called The Sun Gate, where we could see the Machu Picchu for the first time on our hike, just as the sun was rising through the mountains. We went to take a picture, then Nabil took my hands and said “pretend it’s just the two of us right now” and that’s when I knew what was about to happen!
He said some beautiful things, got down on one knee and of course, I said yes! He got someone to take a video and he also had a small voice recorder so we can relive the moment over and over 🙂 The craziest thing about this beautiful story is that I dreamt it almost exactly how it happened, not once but twice just a few weeks before our trip! Nabil did a great job steering me off track and keeping it a surprise for more than a year as he was planning it.”
Engagement Session at Britannia Beach
Britannia Beach is where we went to get the rest of the shots and I couldn’t be happier. This was so much fun and they were up for anything. Having fun is so much easier when we have amazing trust and can truly get the best photos. Just see below for yourself!
